1 Year Stats

Bird had her 1 Year check up yesterday, and everything went great...except for those darn shots!! She is weighing in at a small 20lbs 5 oz, and standing tall at 30 1/4 inches. The Dr. had nothing but positive things to say about her. She's growing like a weed...up, just not out. Hey, I say she has plenty of time for that right!! Live it up while you can Bird, because once you start moving outwards....it's a downhill ride!! Just ask Mommy she knows!

Onto a bit of a touchy subject, many people have asked if we got the MMR shot. I have my own views on this, as every parent should. The answer is Yes, yes we got the shot. To each their own. I have worked in the medical field, as well as with Autistic children. Do I think this shot has anything to do with Autism, no, but with that being said, I also don't see where the medical field has enough to say it might not. Autism is on such a HUGE spectrum, and these days I personally think many of us could be diagnosed as being slightly autistic ourselves. The diagnosis for Autism spread like wild fire just like ADD, ADHD, and many more. I have a special place in my heart for these kiddos. They are so unique, and so amazing in so many ways. I can't imagine dealing with what they must deal with on a daily basis. Your mind going so fast you have no control, or not being able to communicate what it is you want or need. Yet these wonderful gifts from God do it, and I must say I was blessed with the many years I was able to work with them, and learn so much from them in return.

I vow to teach Cadence as she grows up to treat everyone equal, no matter what shape, size, or extra special package they might have. We were raised in that manner and I know I am a better person for it.

Whew...so with all that over with, I just have one last request. Our Grandma D is very ill. Hospice has been called in, and last night was a rough one. Please pray for her. Pray that she won't suffer and that she will go peacefully to her maker in the sky. She's a fighter though, and if she's just not ready yet, well then pray for that as well. May she just not be in pain. We love ya Grandma D, and the whole Dearing Family here in Kansas and Missouri are praying for you.

Signing off

Belly Button Be Gone!!!

Goose had her hernia surgery done last week.  I was a complete wreck.  I know it isn't invasive, however it's still your baby going under anesthesia.   We had to be at Children's at 1:30 for check in.  Goose had no idea what was going on.  She was just as happy s can be.  It was just Goose, myself and Daddy, Nana picked Bird up from school and was keeping we busy until we were home.   When they called us back she got all her vitals checked and was a champ.  We changed her into a gown and she got to play while I spoke with the nurse, anesthesiologist, and the surgeon.  When the nurse told me that they would most likely intubate her, tears just rolled down my face.  In my line of work...intubation is never good, it's a way to sustain life.  I know that in this case it's just a way to know for sure they don't stop breathing during the procedure. The Surgeon came by to see us before and let us know what would be happening.  We work...

Baby Bird turns 16

I'm still not sure how our first baby girls is 16!  I remember not only her birth story, but I remember loving being pregnant with her so much.  Except the heart burn, I could have done without that!   Beautiful Bird you have become such an awesome young lady.  One that I am blessed to be your Mama.  Your love of life truly shines through in any and all settings.  People are drawn to you for your huge heart and understanding ways.  You make friends easily, and teachers and coaches adore you for the hard worker you are, but mostly because you are a true team mate.   I love how close we are, and how close you are to your sisters.  The moments when we just get to hang out and talk life or not even talk at all and just enjoy each others company are some of my most favorite times.   I love when you get excited about things or when something really makes you laugh, I wish I could bottle that joy up and keep it forever.   We are ...
