NIght Safari take 1...

Just like last year, the Kansas City Zoo hosted one of two night time safaris.  We had been telling the kiddos all week that we were going to the zoo on Friday evening.  They were excited to say the least.  Little Man and Bird are have a pretty hard time not seeing one another on a daily basis, good news is, we will be picking him up from school on Fridays!!

We got to the zoo and holy Wow it was a bit hot.  Aunt Erin and Avi were meeting us there!!  It seemed a bit more crowded then last year.  Last year we traveled Australia.  This year they had everyone getting on trams and shipping us to Africa.  It was a bit unorganized, but yet the kids were all still excited!!
Once in Africa, the kiddos saw the new Skyfari ride, and of course wanted to ride it.  We promised we would.  We walked for a bit, seeing a few animals here and there.  You could tell it was dinner time, many of them were standing by their doors, or fences where they are so accustomed to eating.  We found the other end of the Skyfari lift and decided to get on.  The Husband stayed with the wagon and decided to grab a bite to eat.  Myself, Goose and little man rode on one seat, while Aunt Erin, Avi and Bird rode on another.  I gotta tell you....I was scared.  Not because of the height of the ride, but because I had a 15 mth old on my lap who was NOT scared!  She wanted to look over and stand up!!  Aghhhhh!!  I had a death grip on her!!  She was waving to everyone going by, and of course they all thought she was just so cute!  It was a relaxing ride for the most part.  Little Man loved it!!
Once back on the ground we let the kids eat a hot dog and some chips and by now it was like 7:30pm.  We started heading back to the front of the zoo.  We saw more animals this time since they had been fed and were just lounging.  Sad story was the Gorillas were put up for the night.  So we didn't get to see any monkeys.
We finally got back to the car at about 8:30 and the kiddos were wiped out!!  We are going to try it again next month for sure.  Hopefully it won't be so hot and we will take our own cooler knowing we can now.  It was still something fun to do on a Friday night...most important....the kids had a great time!!

Belly Button Be Gone!!!

Goose had her hernia surgery done last week.  I was a complete wreck.  I know it isn't invasive, however it's still your baby going under anesthesia.   We had to be at Children's at 1:30 for check in.  Goose had no idea what was going on.  She was just as happy s can be.  It was just Goose, myself and Daddy, Nana picked Bird up from school and was keeping we busy until we were home.   When they called us back she got all her vitals checked and was a champ.  We changed her into a gown and she got to play while I spoke with the nurse, anesthesiologist, and the surgeon.  When the nurse told me that they would most likely intubate her, tears just rolled down my face.  In my line of work...intubation is never good, it's a way to sustain life.  I know that in this case it's just a way to know for sure they don't stop breathing during the procedure. The Surgeon came by to see us before and let us know what would be happening.  We work...

Baby Bird turns 16

I'm still not sure how our first baby girls is 16!  I remember not only her birth story, but I remember loving being pregnant with her so much.  Except the heart burn, I could have done without that!   Beautiful Bird you have become such an awesome young lady.  One that I am blessed to be your Mama.  Your love of life truly shines through in any and all settings.  People are drawn to you for your huge heart and understanding ways.  You make friends easily, and teachers and coaches adore you for the hard worker you are, but mostly because you are a true team mate.   I love how close we are, and how close you are to your sisters.  The moments when we just get to hang out and talk life or not even talk at all and just enjoy each others company are some of my most favorite times.   I love when you get excited about things or when something really makes you laugh, I wish I could bottle that joy up and keep it forever.   We are ...
