Happy Thanksgiving 2011

I have definitely taken over the roll of hosting Thanksgiving, and I honestly love it!  I love cooking it, I love having all the family over, and most of all I love walking in my grandmas shoes!  This year I bought an 18.5lb bird, made stuffing, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes for my first time.

I was happy that my Dad joined us once again for Thanksgiving after missing him for the last few years!!  He came over early and played with the girls, then played dominoes with the Husband.  He took a nap since he was out on a water main break most of the night into the early morn.
We had a great turn out!  Big Pa, Nana, Grandma Betsy, Aunt Erin, Avie, Uncle Nunu, Hunter, and then Angie and her fam showed up for a bit.  The weather was so nice the kids were able to play lots outside!!  They had a blast!
Poor Nana had to work once again until 1:00pm.  She got here and helped me with the stuffing and gravy.  Nunu got here with the Mac n cheese, and green beans.  I immediately put him to work carving the bird!!
We had a great time.  Everyone was pretty much gone by 5.  Grandma Betsy, Aunt Erin, and Avie stayed for a bit longer.  We all had a great time just hanging out!  Once everyone left I had to get geared up for my all night extravaganza.

I headed out of the house at 7:45pm headed over to my moms house.  When I got there Aunt Kathy, and Sundie were there waiting!  They all had a drink in hand!  LOL!!  We had to go check the freezers at Moms store then off to Walmart we went.  We got there at 9:00 and people were already shopping item that weren't supposed to go on sale until 10pm.  We were told that people started shopping at 6:30pm.  WHAT?  Well in a way it was good, but then again it kindda left out all the madness.  Once we left Walmart, we had 2 hours to kill before Target opened.  So we went and got a warm beverage, dropped off some hot chocolate to poor Royal who had been in line at Old Navy since 8:15.  Target was CRAZY this year!  They were only letting 30 people in at a time!  We didnt get in until almost 12:30 am!!  We didn't get out of there until 2am.  We stopped at Moms for a potty break, then off to Toys R US!  I got ALL I needed there!!  WHooohooo!!  We left there and I had some hungry shoppers in my car.  We had an hour to kill before Kmart opened at 5am.  So we stopped at Denny's and had a bite to eat.  Kmart was the last stop and thank goodness....it was a disaster.  They were sooooo unorganized!  I had lost pretty much ALL patience once we finally got to check out!  I dropped all three ladies off at Moms, and was home in bed by 6:20am.  Did I get sleep...2 hours, then it was out to pick out our tree!!
It was all soooo worth it!  I had a GREAT time with my family, and some much needed laughs!!  I hope to continue this tradition for a while!  Hopefully soon the younger ladies in the family will start to join us!!  Thanks to my Mom, Aunt Kathy, and Cousin Sundie for a GREAT night/morning of shopping!!!  I love you all!!

Belly Button Be Gone!!!

Goose had her hernia surgery done last week.  I was a complete wreck.  I know it isn't invasive, however it's still your baby going under anesthesia.   We had to be at Children's at 1:30 for check in.  Goose had no idea what was going on.  She was just as happy s can be.  It was just Goose, myself and Daddy, Nana picked Bird up from school and was keeping we busy until we were home.   When they called us back she got all her vitals checked and was a champ.  We changed her into a gown and she got to play while I spoke with the nurse, anesthesiologist, and the surgeon.  When the nurse told me that they would most likely intubate her, tears just rolled down my face.  In my line of work...intubation is never good, it's a way to sustain life.  I know that in this case it's just a way to know for sure they don't stop breathing during the procedure. The Surgeon came by to see us before and let us know what would be happening.  We work...

Baby Bird turns 16

I'm still not sure how our first baby girls is 16!  I remember not only her birth story, but I remember loving being pregnant with her so much.  Except the heart burn, I could have done without that!   Beautiful Bird you have become such an awesome young lady.  One that I am blessed to be your Mama.  Your love of life truly shines through in any and all settings.  People are drawn to you for your huge heart and understanding ways.  You make friends easily, and teachers and coaches adore you for the hard worker you are, but mostly because you are a true team mate.   I love how close we are, and how close you are to your sisters.  The moments when we just get to hang out and talk life or not even talk at all and just enjoy each others company are some of my most favorite times.   I love when you get excited about things or when something really makes you laugh, I wish I could bottle that joy up and keep it forever.   We are ...
